We hope you are continuing to stay safe and in good health.
Since our last update that we sent to you, this is what has happened so far in Aruba:
Based on this latest update, the government made the following adjustments:
- Effective April 28th, essential businesses will be allowed to close at 9:00 p.m.
- New curfew is from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
- Preparing to open up for some non essential business under the “new normal” standards as follows:
Level 1: May 4 – 17, 2020: maximum 15 people in the building, including personnel.
Level 2: May 18 – 31, 2020: maximum 50 people in the building, including personnel.
Level 2: June 1 – 14, 2020: maximum 125 people in the building, including personnel.
Level 4: June 15th and on: to be determined.
The measures implemented by the government remain in place:
- Border is closed until further notice
- All non-essential businesses, including schools, remain closed.
- Social distancing and hygiene rules are strictly enforced.
- Mandatory shelter-in-place.
Following the instructions of the government for the mandatory shelter-in-place, operations at La Cabana Beach Resort and Casino continue to be suspended and our offices remain closed.
However, we continue to rotate team members on a weekly basis who have volunteered to stay on property to take care of the resort. Our gardens look beautiful and cared for. The hallways and the grounds are kept clean. The pool continues to be filtered and our premises are being protected and secured. Rest assured that the property is in good hands and your home-away-from-home is being cared for.
We also have a skeleton crew in housekeeping and engineering department to accelerate the limited maintenance weeks of the rooms within our abilities, considering the number of people allowed to be on premises.
We have also started the project of replacing the breezeway doors, the door lock system and WiFi cabling.
We hope to be able to resume operations soon and we cannot wait to welcome you back.
However, in order to guarantee everyone's safety and comply with the Ministerial Regulation AB 1989 no.62, we are currently working on the "new norms" guidelines on how we will be able to serve all our visitors without jeopardizing anyone's health: Enhanced Sanitizing and disinfection protocols for all guest rooms and public areas, signage around the resort and the heart of the house, ordering of masks and additional equipment/tools just to name a few… Protective glass will be installed at the check-in pods at the Front Desk, in the Members Lounge and other guest interaction areas. We are also preparing for a soft opening of our Food & Beverage outlets once resort reopens for take outs and room service.
For the coming months, we will only use one side of the building, being the south side, to accommodate all our incoming members and guests. It will help us to better maintain the sanitation standards during this early state of re-opening and contribute to additional energy savings for that duration. This partial re-opening means that we may need to re-assign your owned room to a comparable one. Furthermore, and because of the enhanced cleaning and sanitation protocols which will require more steps and time to execute, we will be introducing a 10:00 a.m. check-out time as a permanent measure from this point on.
We hope to be able to count on your understanding and cooperation.
We continue to engage with the entire Team of associates on a daily/weekly basis through online Zoom meetings and updates. The staff is eager to return to work and look forward to seeing you all.
As many of you may have heard already, we received the sad news that two of our dear long-time owners have passed away: Mrs. Lynda Orofino and Mrs. Theodora Esposito.
Over the years both Mrs. Orofino and Mrs. Esposito had made many friends in Aruba, both with management and staff as well with other fellow members and will be dearly missed. We offer our sincere condolences to the families and friends of our dear friends, Mrs. Lynda Orofino and Mrs. Theodora Esposito. May they rest in peace.
On a positive note, we know that many of you are asking for an update from one of our team member: Roderick Martis. We are happy to announce that Roderick was recently released from the hospital and will continue his recuperation in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones.
We will continue to share updates with you as they become available and will be posted on our website: www.lacabana.com
